Sublingo is made by PT Pelita Kode Indonesia. This page says what we collect, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived, and the list of companies below was checked against the app’s actual code, not assembled from memory.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the name and profile picture they give us. We do not receive or store your password, and we never see your card details.
What you do in the app
- Which stories and episodes you have opened, and how far you got.
- Words you tapped and saved, and how your reviews went.
- Your reading streak, daily goal, level, and settings.
- Your subscription status, if you have one.
This is the app working, not surveillance: without it there is no “continue where you left off”, no saved words, and no review that knows when you are about to forget something.
Technical and usage data
- Device type, operating system, app version, language, and rough location from your IP address (country level).
- In-app events — screens opened, a story started, a word tapped — used to see which parts of Sublingo actually work.
- Crash reports when something breaks.
- A device notification token, if you allow notifications.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers, and no ad networks. Sublingo does not show ads.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, or precise location.
- No selling of personal data to anyone, for any purpose.
Who else receives it
To run Sublingo we use the services below. Each receives only what its job needs, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.
| Service | What it does | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Account, database, authentication | Email address, account ID, everything you save | Singapore |
| PowerSync (Journey Mobile) | Keeps your device and your account in sync | Your synced rows in transit — profile, saved words, progress | Cloud |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | Account ID, store receipt | United States |
| Apple · Google | Sign-in, payment, notification delivery | Sign-in identity, purchase transactions, device notification token | Global |
| PostHog | Product analytics — which screens and features are used | Account ID, email address, in-app events | United States |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting | Account ID, email address, technical crash details | United States |
| Google Firebase | Analytics and remote configuration | Account ID, email address, app and device metadata | Global |
| Expo | Sends push notifications to your device | Device push token | United States |
| Amazon Web Services | Stores and serves story audio and images | IP address and which file was requested | Singapore |
| OpenRouter | Translates a word you tapped, on demand | The single word, and the two languages | United States |
| flagcdn.com | Serves the small flag images next to language names | IP address, and which flag was requested | Third-party CDN |
Some of these are outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens we rely on the standard contractual protections those providers offer.
About the AI
The stories, illustrations and narration are generated before anyone reads them — that work involves no learner data at all. The one exception is worth stating plainly: when you tap a word for a translation that has not been produced yet, that single word and the two languages are sent to a translation provider (OpenRouter). Your identity is not sent with it, and the result is cached so the same word is never sent twice. Nothing else you read, type or save is used to train anyone’s model.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account — Profile → Delete account — and it is removed, along with your saved words, progress and streaks. Anonymous, aggregated analytics that can no longer identify you may remain. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your choices
- Notificationsare off until you allow them, and can be turned off at any time in Profile → Notifications or in your phone’s settings.
- Access or correction. Most of your data is visible in the app. For anything else, write to us.
- Deletion. In the app, without asking us, at any time.
- Depending on where you live you may have further rights — to object, to restrict processing, or to receive a copy. Email us and we will do it.
Children
Sublingo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this page changes materially we will say so in the app. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
