Every story is written for a CEFR level — A1 to B1 — so the page in front of you is slightly harder than you, not impossible. Each one is illustrated and read aloud.

It’s explained in your own language, in the sentence you found it in — not a dictionary entry for a word you’ll never meet again.

Saved words come back on the day you’d start to forget them. Reading is the lesson; spaced repetition is the memory.

Is Sublingo free?

Yes. Every story in the catalog is free to read and listen to right now. If that changes we will say so clearly before it does.

What level of English do I need?

Stories are graded A1 to B1 — from your first full sentences up to reading a page without stopping. You pick your level, and you can change it whenever it stops fitting.

Which language will words be explained in?

Yours, if it is one of the 33 we support — including Indonesian, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese. You choose it once when you start.

Are the stories written by AI?

Yes, and they are reviewed before publishing. Each one is planned against a vocabulary level, written, illustrated and narrated, then put through automated checks and a human read. Stories that fail are held back rather than shipped.
